Perdido Street Station is the first novel set in Bas-Lag, China Miéville's created world. It is Miéville's second novel, and was first published in 2001 by Macmillan.
Plot summary
The story is set in the city of New Crobuzon where a scientist named Isaac Dan der Grimnebulin meets Yagharek a flying species that has had his wings cut off and asks Isaac Dan der Grimnebulin to restore them. Then, during his experiments he comes upon a moth-like monster that attacks the city, feeds on people and terrifies everyone.
