Submersibles are small watercraft that are designed to operate entirely underwater. New Crobuzon, Armada, and the Gengris are known to possess various types of submersibles.

- Ammonite submersibles - Ammonite submersibles are used in the Gengris by human traders and possibly around Salkrikaltor Cray Commonwealth.
- Ictineo - Ictineos are Remade and thaumaturgically enhanced whalesharks the size of cathedrals used by the New Crobuzon Militia to transport materiel and troops.
- Conventional submersibles - A variety of conventional metal-hulled submersibles are used by Armada for piracy against other ships and for maintenance around the city.
